AquAid and The Africa Trust

AquAid and The Africa Trust

Incare is delighted to announce that the Incare Elephant Pump is complete and up and running.  AquAid formed a charity called The Africa Trust and the Trust is responsible for building water wells or ‘Elephant Pumps’.  The Africa Trust has now built more than 50,000 Elephant Pumps throughout Africa and has provided more than 2 million people with safe drinking water.

The Pump is built using a modified design based on an ancient Chinese rope pulley system which is easy to repair and can be locally maintained.  A Pump can last for more than 15 years.

We here in the UK take constant, clean running water too much for granted and its good news that The Africa Trust is making us all aware of the hardships faced by others far less fortunate.

INCARE SUPPORTS BOURNEMOUTH LEUKAEMIA FUND

Friends of Bournemouth Leukaemia Fund have launched a campaign to raise £60,000.00, the cost of a ‘Next Generation’ Sequencer which cannot currenlty be funded by the NHS locally.

This instrument will enable a Single DNA Test to give individual diagnostic information which in many cases will provide specific treatments for patients with solid tumours and blood cancers at The Royal Bournemouth Hospital.

INCARE SUPPORTS AQUAID

With every water cooler and bottled water we obtain from AquAid, a donation is made to The Africa Trust.  These funds are used directly to build fresh drinking water wells in areas in Africa where it is needed the most, i.e. schools and villages.

AquAid is running a project which involves installing Elephant Pumps in Africa.  Incare has been delighted to help and work on the Incare Elephant Pump will start soon.

SOUTHAMPTON PORT SUCCESS STORY

A delighted Southampton Port Director, Doug Morrison, reported that Southampton has been voted the Number One Car and Vehicle Port in the UK and the Number One Container Terminal for efficiency and production.   It is also the Number One turnaround cruise port in Europe!

Reaching this UK Number One position has been a result of a lot of hard work and huge investment.  It puts Southampton Port firmly on the international map.

UK VOLUNTEER AIDS SPECIAL OYMPICS IN ZAMBIA

Incare International was delighted to be part of Yvonne Mentor‘s amazing trip from Namibia to Lusaka by organising the transportation of her 4×4 Toyota Hilux, as well as sports equipment, from the UK to Namibia.

Yvonne has donated assorted sports equipment to ‘Special Olympics’ Zambia.    The equipment will be distributed to children with special needs in all ten provinces.   Yvonne will be in Zambia for two years and is looking forward to her challenging project and seeing the benefit and joy it will bring to the Zambian children.

Yvonne’s Workshops will target Physical Education teachers who work closely with children with special needs.

Incare will follow Yvonne’s progress with great interest.

‘Special Olympics’ is a global organisation that unleashes the human  spirit through the transformative power and joy of sport.

DUCKS in the Courtyard

Incare is based on the edge of the New Forest and there is always an abundance of wildlife on The Green outside the office windows.   This causes much amusement as sometimes visitors, who have never been to the Forest before, are concerned that someone has left a gate open and the cows have been let out!   At the moment we have ducks, hoping to nest soon (when the weather improves!).  Mrs Duck and two Mr Ducks often wander in The Courtyard.  One lorry driver was heard to say ‘You don’t see that very often, do you?’!!

CLASSIC CAR DISTRIBUTION

New classic car windcreens have been very carefully wrapped and packed with loving care for transportation to Europe.   Incare has long had an association with classic cars and their distribution within the UK and overseas - long may it continue!

GREAT NEWS FOR THE PORT OF SOUTHAMPTON

Work has started on the £150m upgrade and expansion of Southampton’s container port.  The City’s container terminal is being expanded to handle the world’s largest ships.   This means that the port will be able to accommodate the arrival of the new ultra-large container carriers (ULCC)  and compete equally with other UK ports.

Port Director, Doug Morrison, said that Project to create a lost fourth deep-sea container terminal was vital for the Port’s long-term future.  Southampton Port would struggle to remain competitive if it could not handle the new generation of mega container ships.

Southampton remains the UK’s number one Port for vehicle exports.
